• Hi there,

I have set up a facility for users, once they have logged onto the WP customer-area to download document files, however when I click on ‘download’, my web page freezes for about 1-2 minutes, then unfreezes and the download link then works perfectly. This delay is quite annoying, does anyone know of a solution to this. (Prior to a couple of days ago, clicking on the ‘download’ link would generate an unresponsive script error message, that seems to have disappeared?).
Any help would be really great
    Phil Ross

Does the browser/ browser tab freeze?

    Hi there,

No all other browser tabs work fine its just the page that contains WP customer-area, there is a ‘circular’ annimation on the WP customer-area tab, that stops after 1-2 minutes, then page unfreezes and the download link works

    Thanks Phil

Can you show us a page with the issue or is it all private? I have a feeling that this behaviour is the way your theme or plugin developer built the “WP customer area”.

    I’m afraid that’s a private page

I’m not sure how I can show you a screen shot of the relevant page ?

Screenshots can be uploaded using a third party service like https://snag.gy

Screenshots are good, but we need to see a page with the issue (rather than a page with a screenshot).

    ah ok …

the page that causes the problem can only be accessed once someone has signed into the ‘customer-area’

how can I get you to see the page?

I don’t think you can Phil, unless the page is public. This is why I recommend contacting the people who set up this customer area.

    Hi …
Do you think the fault may lie with how WP customer-area is configured ?

Yes, the freezing effect is something that can be purposely implemented when things are loading.

    ah ok interesting…
when I first encountered this problem I got an unresponsive script error when I clicked on the download link, whilst the page froze then the download link would work, that error doesnt appear now, just left with the freezing …

Try looking in your browser’s console log to see if any errors are shown there. If you’re using Chrome, right click on the page and select ‘Inspect element’. Then navigate to the “Console” tab in that new toolbar shown to you. And then fefresh the page.

This is what I get when I get the console up for the affected page:

    1 – Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_ADBLOCKER

2 – jquery.js?ver=1.12.4:3 Uncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded

    What do you think?
    Thanks
    Phil
