• I have updated my WP site to 5.3 and my PHP to 7.2.6. I backed up my MyCQL db and deleted the 5.1.55 version as instructed by yahoo. Now Yahoo tells me that they cannot use the back up to rebuild a db in version 5.7 and that I need to transfer the files manually. I have all the backed up files in MyPHPadmin readily accessible. How do I manually transfer them and where do I transfer them to? I can export them to my desktop, then what? This site is old and dormant (presently down). I use it to work on updates and fixes before I try them on my main site which is essential to my non profit organization. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to use the IMPORT feature in PHPMYADMIN to import the .sql file you created when you exported the database.

There’s no reason on earth to have deleted the DB to upgrade MySQL. They gave you very bad advice.

Anyhow, create a new database and import, as noted above.

If you do need to create a new DB, you may need to update the DB* settings in wp-config.php
