• Hello,

I had 3 months of hell with my Host – (the people that hosted my web site) I managed to download my blog I then sort out another host provider.

The database name is not the same – I can live with that. My question is how can I get my site up to be exactly the same? Or is it that all my pages etc.. stored in the database? A simple yes or no will do.

If “no” ie. all my pages etc. are in wordpress files how do I recover them? WordPress has no way toimport files from a local hard disk.

  • Probably set up the wp-config.php file to match the credentials of your new database name.

    Hi Josh,

All that does is create a new site with no content. I want to replicate my site not create aa blank new site.

Replicate? You mean pull your old content into your new site, right?

    Hi Josh,

Yes I want to replicate – duplicate – create a mirror image of my blog stored on my local hard disk and to have that replicated duplicated mirror imaged on my host.

I don’t know if you can do a real-time duplication. I suppose you could set both wp-config files to utilize the same database… but then when you install plugins etc. you will have to manually do it for both installs.

Perhaps someone else knows a solution?? It is a good idea! Nice way to keep safe backups ??
