I’m going to try to explain this the best I can, but its hard to put into words. And this is probably really really basic, but for some reason, I’m at a loss as to what I’m doing wrong.

OK, so I’m helping a local nonprofit with a new website. Their domain name is thediscoverycenter.net but their hosting is a business account with comcast and so if you go to thediscoverycenter.net and click on any link to another page, it will take you to thediscoverycenter.comcastbiz.net/pagename …and I don’t want the “comcastbiz” part to show at all.

So I know there’s something you can do with masking to make it so visitors don’t see the actual URL, just the domain name…but I’m at a loss as to whether this is that sort of instance when I should use that, and if so, how? I just can’t get my head wrapped around this whole thing well, so I thought I’d see if I can get help here.

I did try to make the settings in wordpress (I’m using WP for their site, obviously) have it set to say that the WordPress installation is at thediscoverycenter.comcastbiz.net and the actual site address is thediscoverycenter.net …but that broke all the internal links in the site, and I then got error messages when I clicked any page.

Can anyone help walk me through this? I’ve not been able to google even because I don’t know what to google for!

I just saw that https://thediscoverycenter.net/about/ and https://thediscoverycenter.comcastbiz.net/about/ are showing the same results.
So you just have to adjust your Menu Links which can be done easily in WP.
    Thanks

That’s really weird…when I look at both of those pages…one has the WP toolbar at the top (the one with “comcastbiz” in it) and the other does not. But both do indeed work. What the heck?

Yes but I don’t think that’s resolving whatever the actual issue is. I want to solve this, not just work around it. I’m afraid if I don’t fix it I will just have more problems occur at some point.

And that doesn’t answer the problem of why the WP toolbar goes away when we’re not in the comcast url? I know that won’t affect visitors but its pretty inconvenient for those editing the site to have to lose that all the time.

Your theme Fresh & Clean was released/ updated on January 12, 2012. After this date there were two WordPress upgrades. If you are using the version I mentioned above, you could be facing incompatibility issues that can create problems described by you. Please check it up.
