• Cool that is now a core feature, but we need also the pro features. In ACF Pro you have to pay for that 250 bucks a year, just for some core functions that should be free, in my eyes as Full-Stack Developer. I programmed my own repeater fields, gallerys etc, but it would so much faster if you could also use the pro features, that would be a big reason for developers to come to the wordpress world back. But now it’s so important that wordpress clears that conflict, and we got the security back, which tool we can use for the future.

  • Oh, absolutely! Why would anyone expect companies to charge for their work and expertise? I mean, who needs to pay bills or run a business? I’m sure you provide your services completely for free too, right?

It is actually $ 149 /year for 10! websites – about $ 15 /year for one website. In my opinion this is absolutely worth the time you save by using it. Saving 1 hour pays for 5 years license cost (for me at least). If you buy the unlimited version for $ 250 you need to have 17 websites to get to costs of $ 15 for one website and every website on top of it makes it even cheaper.

I understand your point and I respect the work that goes into developing software and tools like ACF Pro. My main concern is not that developers shouldn’t get paid for their work—quite the opposite. As a developer, I value high-quality tools and understand the value behind them. What I was trying to highlight is that some features, which are considered essential for many projects, such as repeater fields or galleries, could be integrated into WordPress core to make the platform more accessible for developers.

Of course, I understand that businesses need to monetize their tools, and I respect that. My thought was more about how this could, in the long run, help attract more developers to the WordPress ecosystem.

If you are a no-code developer with elementor etc. then its totally fine.
    But your right.
