    As is the main Wp site.

    I just want to make sure I understand what happens during a build for the main site. Are all the folders in public_html/ stored in the Archive, or just the wordpress folders and files? I suspect that it is all of them and that’s why you have the exclude setting – but I just wanted to be sure before I set up exclusions for (public_html)/wp2;/wp3;/shoppingcart;/wp4

    Please confirm that I don’t need to include a trailing slash on each folder as per your example in the Duplicator User Guide and whether or not I need to include public_html/ in each exclusion.

    Thank you

  • Hi Nurbz,

    It will pickup all directories in our WP root which can be found by going to Duplicator > Tools > Diagnostics (Tab) > Root Path. Every directory that is in that path that is not excluded will be included in the archive. The next version of the plugin will have the Root Path details in the scanner page. You shouldn’t need the trailing for the filters.

    Hope that helps!

    Thank you for writing Cory.
    I know you recommend installing to an empty folder – but what about “restoring” to the public_html folder? Will the excluded site folders remain untouched?

    I found the root path – thank you. So that full path would have to be used in each exclusion like this?
    /home/account-name/plublic_html/WP2;
    /home/account-name/plublic_html/WP3;
    /home/account-name/plublic_html/shoppingcart;
    /home/account-name/plublic_html/WP4;

    Hey Nurbz,

    You can do that, but if something in the archive exists that exists in the public_html then the extraction process will most likely over write those files. Its the same process as if you where to unzip a file to any directory…

    On the User Guide you may also check out a video titled:
    “Working with Subfolders”

    Hope that helps!

    hi there
    i have a permissions failure at scan requirements stage when trying to package.

    thing is – that the paths the are getting failed :

    Fail [/var/www/isramalonco/data/www/isramalon.co.il/]
    Fail [/var/www/isramalonco/data/www/isramalon.co.il/wp-snapshots]
    Fail [/var/www/isramalonco/data/www/isramalon.co.il/wp-snapshots/tmp]

    are not accessible to me – since they are old and do not exist on server anymore – yet duplicator seems to find them.
    how can i point it to a different root or folder?

    thanks

    Hi Koderius,

    I would double check with your host. The folders may still be there possibly through a symbolic link. The check for those paths are basic PHP IO functions. If PHP is improperly reporting their existence, then there is a problem with PHP on your server…
