    Good morning.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with BOTS causing a serge in 404 non existing pages? I have noticed this happening the past few months on a lot of wordpress sites I manage.

I am using WordFence and also Clouldflare with a lot fo sites now because of this and wanted to ask if anyone else is having these issues.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘serge’? Can you describe in more detail what you mean?

I am using the plugin real simple SSL and it shows vulerabilities lately with bots going to non existing pages and eating up resources and such. This was never an issue until the past month or so.

I started to use Cloudflare and also WordFence but wanted to ask if anyone else has any idea what to do with this?

That sounds like normal everyday life on the web. Bots automatically search URLs for potential vulnerabilities. This comes and goes in waves, so it is not surprising if it continues for a while. With a security plugin, you are always on the safe side when it comes to securing existing points of attack. However, if the bots hit 404s directly, there is no danger and no real consumption of resources.
