My client wants to allow payments in full and payments with a deposit. This is working fine with the WooCommerce Deposits paid extension, however I’m not sure how to accomplish a different price based on if you’re paying in full or paying with a deposit. For example, she wants to sell the product for $90 if you pay upfront, or $100 dollars if you pay with a deposit ($40 upfront and $60 in the second payment). Is there any way to do this?

  • @paulcredmond,

One way you can do that with Deposits is to actually set the price lower and then charge more for the payment plan option. You could make the deposit plan option cost more. That would be a way to give a discount for paying in full upfront.

If you have any trouble, feel free to reach out to WooCommerce.com support. We’d be happy to help you there.

Thanks for the response. In the meantime I did get in touch with support and unfortunately there’s no perfect solution to what I require.

The prices I gave above would work, but some products have a price structure of $130 for payment in full and $140 with a deposit ($40 + $100).

What I’m looking for with the payment plan is a price of 107.7% to achieve this, but as you can only have one decimal place this gives an uneven price of $40.01 and $100.04, which is obviously $0.05 more and looks messy. Is there another way to get this price to work exactly?

    Hey @paulcredmond,

I’m not aware of another option to set that up with what’s available out of the box. Another option would be to set up separate products for the pay in full and for the deposit option.

You could then use a grouped product to place them together on the same page. Nico has a post showing how that works with Subscriptions, but the idea would be the same for Deposits.

That might be an option for you and it would allow you to have the exact price you’d like for both payment options.

    Cheers,
