Ways to customize the download list page? [downloads]

Love the plugin so far, got everything up and working quite easily, and it looks like it’s going to fill my needs. There is just one thing I would like some help with – getting the download list page to display the way I would like.

It appears, by default, the list is arranged in tiles, depending on how many columns you want. With a 1-column display, you get:

[photo 1]
[title 1]
[description 1]
[cart button 1]

[photo 2]
[title 2]
[description 2]
[cart button 2]

etc…
and it only takes up about half the width of the page. In my theme, that looks pretty chunky, because it’s all over to one side of the page and you cannot see very many of the downloads all at once.

What I would like is something more like this:

[photo (small) 1] [title 1] [description (truncated] 1] [cart button 1]
[photo (small) 2] [title 2] [description (truncated] 2] [cart button 2]
[photo (small) 3] [title 3] [description (truncated] 3] [cart button 3]
etc…

So far, I haven’t found anything in the docs that answer this question. I have coding skills, so I can just hack it to make it do what I want, but I wanted to make sure I haven’t overlooked a way you may have already provided as an easier way of doing this.
