• I can’t seem to find the right combination, if it exists, to display links the way I want.

Most text links (category, archive, meta) on the sidebar generated by WordPress has a “title” attribute generated in the html so something is displayed when you hover your mouse over the text links in the sidebar.

For the Links section, I see you can add a short description and that will add the title attribute and hover effect, BUT it also adds the description being displayed next to the link in the sidebar.

Is there a way globally or individually, to specify you only want the title html attribute generated for the hover without also getting the short description displayed next to the link? I’m sure I could hack the PHP code, but is there a way through the WP admin for links to accomplish this?

If not, I’ll submit a request because I could see someone wanting to do the above on an individual link basis, which hacking would likely prevent.

    David

  • Yes, there is.
In my Link manager, I have this link (for instance)
    About
    Description: Details, details

On the blog, you just see ‘About’ and the description appears when you hover the link. I’m using Nicer Titles but that makes no difference.

The above link is in the Link Cat “Here” and that cat has the following properties:
    Here 11 N N N N N name N <li> <br /> </li> none

    That help ?

Excellent. I didn’t even notice the submenu of “tabs” under the Links option in admin.

Fixed things right up – thanks again!!

I’m a complete newbie to wordpress and in need of help on minor things as I fumble my way around. My question is,I’ve added a new page for my site and it appears in the sidebar with the link.I want to change what the link title on hover says, but I don’t know where to do that, any advice?

You cannot – unless you hack the core files. WP uses the title of the Page for the link title.

Hacking the core files would probably not be a good idea,am I correct? Thanks in advance.
