Way to preserve paragraphs in comments?

I am using the shortcode for comments on a page. Works great!
Is there a way to preserve the paragraphs that are within the original comment so that the paragraphs are also displayed in the BWP comment list? Currently they are stripped out and all sentences of a given comment run together.
