• I’m new to WordPress, and the Bearded theme looks very good.
Is there any way to set it up exactly as the theme looks like, and from there customize it?

I’m having so much trouble even setting up the Shopping Cart icon by the menu-thing.

    Regards,
    Alexander

  • To change the menu icons, you have to go to Appearance > Menus. Under each menu item click “Choose Icon” and a pop-up will let you select which icon you want associated with the corresponding menu item.

    Hi muckpuck,

I got it running by downloading WordPress 3.9 (www.remarpro.com), downloading and installing the Bearded theme (at https://bonfirelab.com/themes/bearded/). Once you have activated the Bearded theme, install the WordPress Importer plugin and activate that plugin. Next, download the dummy content. You can find this by going to https://github.com/bonfirelab/bearded. At this page, select the button with: branch: master and click 0.1.3. In the right menu you can download the files by “download zip”. In the ZIP file you will find the dummy_data.xml and you can upload this file by using the wordpress importer plugin. If you do that you will have a website just like the demo website. (Be aware that it may disrupt your earlier work (pages/posts)).

    r.s.fichtinger,

Not necessarily…the dummy data on this template DOES give you the images necessary for the animate slider, HOWEVER, it does not let you style the home products like in the demo…the wishlist and price displays are still not showing…they are styled like generic woocommerce products…if you can show proof that you have found a way to set up the download EXACTLY like its being paraded…I stand corrected…otherwise…you haven’t really found a solution to a problem EVERYONE may be having…

    Hi Lunadoshopboss,

The dummy data indeed just let you copy the animated slider and blog. The products do not show up ?? Thus, unfortunately, you are right. That would be something for the developer or some WordPress expert. I will continue tweaking my design and if I find a solution I will share that.

I know this is an old thread, but to help others I thought I ‘d reply ??

I was also confused as to why my products weren’t displayed on the home page like they are in the bearded theme demo, I then realised that I’d used the Woocommerce products widget on my home page, rather than the Bearded Products widget.

For me, it was as simple as that ??
