Watermark & Duplicate Original

  • This is an excellent plugin for watermarking. Thank you!

    I would like to see an option to watermark the original while retaining a duplicate copy of the original (maybe with some masked filename) that could be restored if thumbnails needed to be rebuilt.

    It was mentioned in this thread that full size images could just not be watermarked, but this somewhat defeats the purpose of protecting/identifying images. Full-size images are the primary images I would want to protect.

    As a developer, I realize it would be a significant task to add this functionality, but I do think it would be a great benefit.

    Hello, again! I made some edits to v1.3.3 that can be seen in v1.3.3.1.

    These edits add the functionality described above. From the media list, you have the option to not only ‘Apply watermark’, but to ‘Remove watermark’. Note that this only restores the full sized image. Any watermarks applied to other image sizes will remain. However, once the full size image is restored, other sizes can be restored by use of AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild.

    I hope you might review the code and consider pulling these (or similar) changes into a future version. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

    FYI: I have not tested how it integrates with Automatic Watermarking.

    To the Plugin-Author: Is it possible to implement this in the next version?
