• I have to give atleast 2 stars because of the idea, but…since this latest version it slows my admin area so much that it’s unusable. Let me know if you need any info from me to fix this, thanx.

  • Sorry it is misbehaving. This is related to memory usage problems discussed in the support forum for this plugin.

I just released a plugin update (version 3.2.0) which contains a number of performance enhancements.

The issue is that every site I have tested Ad Blocking Detector on works perfectly, and it seems to perform equally well for the majority of users. Low memory usage, fast page loads, et cetera. This makes it very difficult to fix. Up to this point, I have been implementing micro-optimizations to squeeze microseconds off the plugin load time and kilobytes off the memory usage on my websites. But it is unclear if that will fix the problems you, and a few other are experiencing.

With 3.2.0, I can now collect some information that will pinpoint the problem.

Can you please install the latest update, activate it, go to the Ad Blocking Detector dashboard, open the Report a Problem / Debug tab, scroll down to the Session Log box, and click the “Send a Copy of Log To Developer” button. The log contains performance information that will pinpoint where Ad Blocking Detector is slowing down and using too much memory on your site. This will give me a starting point for further optimizations.

Also, if version 3.2.0 improves the behavior, that would be helpful to know as well.

Thank you in advance! I will continue to work on this issue.

so slow, :(( i lose so many things and started an argument with my hosting service, don’t knowing that this plugin eats all my Entry Processes and CPU, I don’t rate one star because I respect others people’s work…

    @protoss

I’m sorry to hear the plugin isn’t working well for you.

If I may ask, what version are you using where this problem occurs. There were some sporadic performance problems (detailed here) with the major version update (3.0.0), but others are reporting they are fixed as of version 3.2.0, and later updates included other improvements. Is the plugin still slow with the most recent updates?

If it is still slow, can you send me the output of the Session Log. The “Send a Copy of Log To Developer” button mentioned in an earlier post in this thread works for most websites. If you want to be sure it works properly, the best choice is to copy and paste it in an email to me. Contact information is available on the same “Report a Problem / Debug” tab.

Recent versions of this plugin load all of the code in between 20 and 30 milliseconds on all of my testing sites, and the handful of other sites I have received information on. That is .02/.03 of a second added to the WordPress admin load time, and shouldn’t even be noticeable. The Ad Blocking Detector dashboard itself loads comparably to all other WordPress admin pages.

If your website is significantly slowed with recent plugin versions, I believe something is broken specific to your site, and I can investigate that problem (with the Session Log).

As far as CPU usage, I will look into the CPU time used, but it shouldn’t be significant, and no problems have appeared on other sites, so again, this may be specific to your site.

Once again, I’m sorry you’re experiencing problems. If you send the Session Log, I can investigate and hopefully fix the problem.

CPU resources were limited for your site

You have reached entry processes (number of simultaneously running php and cgi scripts, as well as cron jobs and shell sessions) limit 540 times

Your site might hit resource limits soon

You had 10 processes out of 10 max processes allowed

You had 500 I/O usage out of 500 max I/O usage allowed

That was in 24h after actication.

I just send it a copy of the log.
