• The support team for the plugin is great. This isn’t their failure.

However, if you have a NEW Google Analytics 4 property that DOESN’T have a connected UA account, DO NOT USE THIS PLUGIN. It will not help you. It will confuse you and your data.

Instead, just add the gtag code from the manual installation.

Hopefully, once they update the Site Kit to fully support the GA4 properties, maybe it will be worth trying again.

    Hi @chenryahts,

Sorry to read of your comments, but thank you however for sharing. From reviewing your site health information, checking your sites source code, and using the tagassistant.google.com service I did confirm that your connected Site Kit properties were reporting.

Based on your comments was it not the discrepancies between your GA4 and UA snippets, along with the real time reporting tool over on analytics.google.com not aligning with your expectations?

I’m certainly happy to revisit your support topic, or troubleshoot this further if you want to add more of your findings.

Instead, just add the gtag code from the manual installation.

If you add both a UA and a GA4 snippet manually to your site, this doesn’t differ to code snippet added via Site Kit. For clarification we’ve added the code snippets that Site Kit adds to a users site, in it’s own section on the plugin website.

I don’t know what to tell you. I followed your directions, tried all the options, and none of them were able to get the all the data in the GA4 property as expected.

Turning this on just resulted in us NOT having data for the time period in question… so, it doesn’t work properly with a standalone GA4 property. It just doesn’t.

And yes, I understand that in theory, both properties should see the data, but they don’t. Being connected to ANY UA property seems to screw up the Google Analytics view data on the Google Analytics site for the GA4 property.

So, IDK, but it isn’t working right, and after trying to troubleshoot, it sounds like there is no way to even get it to do the same thing as just using the gtag for the GA4 property – even if that’s theoretically what it’s doing.

It just does not work the same. I don’t know why. Everything seems to be “working”, but it isn’t.

And again, it doesn’t HAVE a connected UA property. When I created a NEW UA property as directed, it created a new GA4 property in Google Analytics, instead of using the one that was selected.

So, no, if you’re just using a GA4 property, this plugin will not work for you.

    Hi @chenryahts,

If you’re GA4 data is being impacted with having a UA snippet placed, I would suggest sharing any such details with the product experts at the Analytics Help Centre. It’s certainly not ideal, and shouldn’t be occurring.

And again, it doesn’t HAVE a connected UA property. When I created a NEW UA property as directed, it created a new GA4 property in Google Analytics, instead of using the one that was selected.

If you want to share a video of the above I can discuss this with the team. After you select the option to set up a new UA property within Site Kit, you should be able to select your preferred GA4 property, or keep the existing once already selected, as per the video I shared with you yesterday, from your support topic.

As this is not happening with you, you can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share a screen recording. After doing so you can share privately using this form. We can hopefully then determine what’s occurring. Thank you!

If you prefer not to troubleshoot further I understand, given the efforts you’ve went to so far.

    Hi @chenryahts,

I’m just following up with you to check whether this issue remains? If so please share a screen recording of your experience as advised above and I can check this with the team.
