  • Hi, I’ve been trying to back my site up but it always fails at the Creates archive/Compressing files as ZipArchive stage. Here is the log if it helps:

  • Similar problem here. There are several thread adressing similsr problms. Unfortunately no actual fix yet.

    Try to set up Max. script execution time to 30 in BackWPup > Stettings > Tab: Jabs

    Is there a fix for this yet please? My files backup fails (other components back up fine). I have changed the max script execution time from the default 50 seconds to 30.

    There is no generel fix. You can try only the settings in BackWPup > Settings Tab: Jobs

    I’m having the same is with just one site. It’s a large site. I can get Duplicator to back it up, but not BackWPUp. I’ll try the setting you mention above.

    I took a more detailed look and found the backup was including some folders I don’t need. I took these out and it worked perfectly. Thanks Daniel.

    Does not work….a huge waste of time thinking this would be a good backup plugin. Never made it through even one single session without the error the OP described. I did try the suggestion and the same result. For the author to say “no general fix” is almost like saying he does not take this seriously…such a shame. If your trying to get me to the paid version of this plugin, this sure as hell won’t if the free plugin doesn’t at least shine a tad and show premium qualities.

    @mike: Most problems depend on the hoster. BackWPup is build so that it can work on many hoster. But some settings must be tested to get it work. That is why i say there is no “general” fix.

    Same here. Why are other plugins (such as Duplicator) able to create a full backup of files and database in a fraction of the time BackWpUp takes. BackWpUp often fails too due to inactivity timeouts. Especially with zip format. Duplicator uses Zip format too, but doesn’t have any problems and is much faster. Daniel, please look at Duplicator’s backup logic and see if you can duplicate it somehow. There has to be a better way. TarGz format can succeed in creating BackWpUp backups, but TarGz format can’t backup long file names. Often users upload long file name images not knowing the issue with TarGz backups. Please, please please, see if you can look into Duplicator’s core backup logic and hopefully duplicate it. This is a big problem with your plugin, otherwise, it’s great. Thank you.

    I will have a look. The gratest Problem is the compability to PHP 5.2.
