• Since updating WordPress, I have noticed the following message at the top of one of my old posts…

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘width’ in /home4/amandalyle/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.photon.php on line 466

What does this mean and can anyone help me fix this? I’m not very technical minded so a simple explanation and instructions would be appreciated

    Thanks ??

your “jetpack” plugin seems to be the error.

Try deleting/renaming this plugin’s folder using FTP , or your web-host’s cPanel or whatever file management application your host provides.

Or you could do the much less drastic action of disabling Photon within jetpack, until they hopefully update the plugin to fix this bug.

I’m seeing a similar problem, but don’t have Jectpack installed.

This only happens on pages where I am using Galleries, e.g. [gallery columns="4" ids="468,584,469,470,471,921"]

Warning: Illegal string offset 'width' in /wp-includes/media.php on line 1053
    and
Warning: Illegal string offset 'width' in /public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 1058

If you search “Warning: Illegal string offset ‘width’ in public_html/wp-includes/media.php” you’ll see thousands of sites displaying the errors.

I’m guessing a theme comparability issue, but the gallery seems to work ok, so what is the error relating to?

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

I never got to the bottom of this. I might email my theme developer, to see if he can help with issue – if you say it could be theme incompatibility?

    *Long sigh*
