Two of the possible reasons are :
1. max_allowed_packet size setting for mysql
2. max_execution_time of query
Increasing any of them can possibly fix this issue.

If you’re on a shared host, you’ll have to contact the host regarding those settings. If on a VPS, you’d update those values in your mysql/maria config files then restart the database service.

You can follow this link https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8062496/how-to-change-max-allowed-packet-size to increase max_allowed_packet_size but it’s better to ask your host to do this for you if on shared hosting.
