• Hi, have tried reaching out directly to StudioPress but the tickets go unanswered so am hoping someone here can help. (Please move the post if I’m in the wrong place).

I’m a new user of WordPress and am trying to get all the posts on my front page to show as full text (rather than the old ones showing as excerpts). I’ve tried turning the option off in my settings but it doesn’t seem to help as I think this theme has excerpts as default.

How do I work around that?

    Here is my page:

Here is an example of how I’d *LIKE* the posts to appear (so I know it’s possible!)
https://www.austinkleon.com (edited as I had a typo in original post)

Can someone please help me? Eternally grateful if you do! ??

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

The domain is unregistered. Perhaps you had a typo in the address?

Because you’re using a commercial theme, Eleven40-pro, please use their official support channel. We feel they are best equipped to support their products.

That’s a shame. I’ve already reached out to StudioPress twice to no avail.

I figured there would be some people here who had successfully tinkered with their own them and might be willing to help. Guess not.

    Thanks anyhow,
    J.

If you create a child theme, you can change (probably) change a call to “the_excerpt” to a call to “the_content”. In which file and what the side-effects might be is unknown to me.

    @jenniferpirtle:

TL;DR: Open your Eleven40 Pro theme folder and rename the file home.php to home-old.php.

    For the details…

Eleven40Pro is already a child theme (of StudioPress’s Genesis theme framework). So creating a child theme is not possible in your case.

And a quick googling shows Eleven40 Pro uses a home.php with multiple custom loops in multiple columns… so even finding all the occurrences of the_excerpt and changing them to the_content will just lead to an ugly mess of full-length articles in narrow columns.

But getting rid of the homep.php file forces the child theme to use the parent Genesis framework’s index.php template file, which already has what you’re asking for.

    Good luck!

    George!

    You’re amazing – it worked perfectly. ?? ??

I knew it could be done somehow, simply.

Thanks so much for weighing in!

    Warm wishes,
    Jennifer
