Want to update old plugin.. but can't commit changes? forbidden

I have a plugin and I have not worked on it for a while. Now I want to update it but when I want to commit my changed files I get the following `error:
Error: Commit failed (details follow):
Error: access to ‘[FILENAME]’ forbidden `

I found some post like this… but no answer that could help me.
