Want to create an online book using WP

  • Hey Guys!
    I used to dabble with WP and even was a member(with a different Uname) of this forums helping people with their queries. I kinda lost touch with WP and HTML/CSS/JS. I am planning to write an online book(like Mark Pilgrim’s diveintohtml5), but on a totally different subject.
    I was wondering if I can use WP for this or just go ahead with plain old HTML/CSS(I have a very bad feeling that this route will be very tedious).

    If it is possible to do this using WP, could you guys be kind and show me links to tutorials and/or books?

    I am also guessing that I have to make my own theme. Am I right?

  • I remember the old days too lol. Definitely don’t just do raw HTML :). WP could work for a book but yea, you will need to customize it to behave the way you want.

    With custom post types this is definitely easier now than ever. I recommend taking some time to experiment and figure out how you want it to be structured and then seeing if there are any existing plugins or themes that will get you started in the right direction.
