Want to add photo over another photo

Here’s what I’m looking for: I have about a dozen pictures for reading challenges I’m participating in (here is the page), and I would like to lay something over the pictures of the challenges I’ve completed, like a graphic that says “Completed” or a checkmark or something similar. I’m not sure how to lay down a photo on top of another. Can anyone help?
