Want some pages to be hidden, but usuable. How?

probably your header.php…..where your menu is generated

you should already have the wp_list_pages function there, you tack on the exclude

OK, I’ll check it out. Another basic question. Do I have to manually number the pages in the Order field to get this to work?

no…each page is assigned an ID when you create it, you just need to get that by hovering over the title of the page in your edit pages menu (it shows up in your status bar down at the bottom…at least in IE)

It seems such a trivial thing. Hardly worth the effort of installing a plugin.
