• Unfortunately, since you haven’t activated the OptinMonster account registered to?–@icloud.com, I have to delete it in the next 24 hours. That means you’ll lose your 500 free pageviews and three campaigns which I don’t want to happen.

This was an email after downloading and I had just signed in but did not give my credit card details. Very aggressive and not a company I want to deal with – ever. WordPress should look into them and Google suggested downloading- Google should not.

  • Hi @wood9,

Thank you for your feedback regarding this activation email. We appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns.

We understand that it may seem harsh to delete an account, however, this practice is in place to prioritize your security and privacy. Removing unactivated accounts ensures that your personal information is not stored unnecessarily on our servers.

This email is also one of our final attempts to connect with you and offer assistance before officially deleting the account. In that email, we provide an opportunity for you to engage with our Success team, who can create a complimentary campaign specifically tailored to your needs. They can guide you through the account activation process and address any questions or concerns.

We understand you might want to skip the account setup since we require credit card details. We know this can cause some concern, and we want to assure you that you have complete control over when or if we use the card on file. You can manage these settings within your account preferences, which can be found here: https://optinmonster.com/docs/pageview-and-upgrade-preferences/.

We hope these options will give you and other users more confidence in using OptinMonster, and we appreciate you taking the time to try our platform. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any further questions or concerns.

Utterly disgraceful, your product unlike any other on WordPress can only be used if you have credit card details, which reading the small print is then charged as soon as 500 free page views have been used.

The manner and the way you have engaged with me as a potential customer owning over 30 domains rings massive warning bells – I do not trust you and therefore have deleted your product from my websites. Please delete my details as I want nothing to do with your company and have no confidence in you whatsoever.

    Hello @wood9

    Thanks for writing back.

All our plans, including the free plan, require a credit card in order to start and have specific pageview limits and features available to them.

It’s kind of like how you might be billed for internet service or a phone plan. Depending on the phone or internet package you choose, you might get more lines, gigs of data, or other additional features. If/when you near the limit of your selected package, they let you know they’ll be charging you if you go over so your service isn’t interrupted.

We take this same approach, so in the event, your account exceeds the campaign impressions available to it, your campaigns continue showing, and you can keep growing your email list, leads, and sales.

We also give you full control of what happens to your account if you do reach those limits. As you approach your limits, we’ll send 2 email notifications letting you know what to expect.?

And if needed, you can also take advantage of our 14-day unconditional money-back guarantee. If you are automatically upgraded, or you’re not 100% happy with OptinMonster, you can cancel your account…risk-free and hassle-free…and we’ll refund your payment.

I hope that helps explain the requirement of a credit card.

We know that doesn’t work for everyone, though, but we thank you for giving us a try!

For deleting the account, we will need an email from your registered email address to support@optinmonster.com and our team will go ahead and get it completely removed from our system. That is required for the security of your account.

We wish you luck with your future endeavors!

As they state above you are needing to give payment details before usage and from what others have said it is a nightmare to cancel and stop payments. Stay away.
