• Hey Curious Readers,

This is a tricky one to write – because my tale has been one of frustration too, but we got there in the end and to be fair the customer service was fantastic once we got underway.

My problem was social media icons not displaying on all browsers.

So here is the reality we all need to accept. Every website is different, a different theme with a mixed-bag combination of existing plugins, further compounded by a mixture of different settings locally on WordPress or at a theme level, potentially with further customisations of the website code by the site owner or a third-party web developer. In other words, the chances of something not quite working as intended could not be any greater.

Even WordPress’ own Gutenberg update is still not working properly on my website…

Anyhow, the problem I had was odd – correct display on Safari, Chrome for Mobile – but NOT CHROME FOR DESKTOP. The troubleshooting guide did not fix anything and the ticket raised had the operator refer me back to the troubleshooting guide.

After discussing at length with a patient technician, we found an issue with a manual setting within WordPress and “hey presto” – problem solved.

With all the to’ing and fro’ing, it took about 2 weeks to put this right. However the reality is I now have the best looking and functional plugin working, for the sake of two weeks. I have what I want in exchange for a little patience.

For me I found the frustration indicative of how much I liked the solution and wanted it to work. I also now, taking a step back – see some of the delays in ticket responses as indicative of how popular the product is and therefore the supporting team are. So where am I now. It works, it looks good and I am happy and I cannot hold being busy and successful against the creators.

Ps. My only recommendation would be that they take the time out to update the troubleshooting section, so that easy to administer setting changes are more readily available. There is nothing worse than implementing a solution that produces no change.

Give it a go!! You’ll love it.
