W3TC refuses to update

W3TC won’t update manually, by FTP, or through regular update mode after last update. Wants manual insertion of code into wp-config and .htaccess but after doing that it still refuses to recognize the manual update. I turned off my security tools and it still won’t work. Deleted W3TC out of frustration.
