W3TC gzip (mod_deflate) breaks PDF in Google Chrome
-
For some reason with gzip compression enabled under browser cache I am no longer able to serve PDF files to Google Chrome users. Instead, users see the error
Failed to load PDF document.
( https://i66.tinypic.com/2jb146u.jpg ).I have no idea why?!
Response headers for the PDF look fine in Chrome:
Accept-Ranges:bytes Cache-Control:max-age=31536000, public Connection:keep-alive Content-Length:2086983 Content-Type:application/pdf Date:Wed, 04 Oct 2017 20:01:30 GMT ETag:"565360a1-1fd847" Expires:Thu, 04 Oct 2018 20:01:30 GMT Last-Modified:Mon, 23 Nov 2015 18:53:21 GMT Server:nginx X-Powered-By:PleskLin
As soon as I disable gzip compression the PDFs work again, no other media files seem to be affected. I’m not sure when this issue started i.e. if its related to recent Chrome updates, things work fine in FF / Safari.
Using WP 4.8.2 / W3TC 0.9.5.4
Thanks for any help
