• I updated to WordPress 3.0 this morning and had the latest version of Super Cache installed. After the update, I couldn’t access the wp-admin, it was just a blank page. I removed the plug-in and all associated files and wp-admin worked fine.

I tried W3 total cache and the exact same thing happened. Once installed, no wp-admin, just a blank page. Once I removed the plug-in, the admin pages came back.

Any thoughts on what could be causing the problem with two cache plug-ins?

    Jim

  • WP Super Cache works just fine with 3.0 and there’s a new version of W3TC too I think that works with it. Did you check your PHP error log?

Maybe something wasn’t installed correctly or there was a conflict in functions names or something.

I’ve not upgraded my blogs using Supercache yet, but I do have a test blog on Wp3.0 which is currently using W3TC (just the simple bits, not the CDN stuff) without problems other than ‘operator error’. This blog was created with Wp3RC1 though, so it may not be the same as a version upgraded from Wp2.x

I’m having the same problem as @jdalrymple trying to run WP 3.0 and W3 Total Cache. I got everything running and now the wp-admin area is suddenly inaccessible. Too bad, W3TC seems like a powerful plugin but it still has a way to go.

For now, I’ll be sticking with WP Super Cache as it seems better supported and much easier to install.

W3TC is also working fine for most users according to the statistics. You just joined the forums 2 hours ago – I would appreciate it if claims were based on facts and contributions were made to assist in moving the community forward.

    FOR THOSE COMPLAINING
I don’t know about anybody else but W3 Total Cache worked wonders for my blog. I did install it after WP 3.0 update though. Before I installed it I had a 15 second wait for my home page to load. Some browsers now report less than 5 seconds. The ability to clear both page and disc cache after making changes has been the best feature I’ve had on my WP installation although I’m only new to all this.

I had to search for help in configuring W3 but hey it’s not like I paid for it. It’s obvious your probably only complaining because you depend on it to keep things running smooth for you. And if you didn’t disable ALL your plug-ins before updating to WP 3.0 then who is really blame? You might try that next time and re-introduce them one at a time and see what the real issue is.

    FROM A NOOB

    Helpful tip @tryminenow – thanks.
