With W3 total cache enabled, Images uploaded to my media library are not marked as already being compressed. So when I try to compress all images at once, the images become compressed over and over again instead of being marked for 0 compressions. This seems to have lowered the quality of my pictures further for each time it was run, so now I need to re-upload everything it seems ??

Interestingly, when w3 is disabled, any new images are marked as compressed properly and result in “0 compressions” when running the “compress all” feature, BUT all the old pictures that were previously apparently not marked as compressed, are still being re-compressed over and over and over causing my images to degrade almost as fast as my wallet ??

I previously using WP Smush and didn’t have these issues, but they did not offer any free compressions, so I came here and I think others will to if this bug is fixed. So many people are using catching plugins, so this should be fixed in my opinion.

I was working with a support rep from TinyPNG on this via email, he was great, but did not know if/when/how this would be fixed yet. So I wanted to list the bug here for anyone else who is having the same problem, and so we can get updates on this problem.

    Any ideas? Thanx!

Hello semperaye, we had a look at W3 Total Cache but haven’t yet managed to reproduce the problem you are experiencing. It sounds either some caching of the postmeta information of the image or the media library page, or something that happens after an image is compressed. If you get in contact through [email protected] we may look at the issue more in depth if you like. Also we have just released version 2.0 of the plugin, which also includes a lot of changes. We would be happy to find out if there is something that can be improved for W3 total cache.
