A few days ago I tried to upgrade to the latest version of W3TC. I got fatal error warnings so I deactivated it.

Today I tried to delete the plugin via the WP plugin menu. After trying, I got the “W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/wakeup9/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php” message

So far I have backed up and removed the following as per advise from others experiencing the same issue.
    wp-content/advanced-cache.php
    wp-content/db.php
    wp-content/w3tc/
    wp-content/w3-total-cache-config.php
    wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/
    wp-content/w3tc-config

I have also removed W3TC from root my .htaccess file.

I am still unable to access any wp-admin pages, though the front end of my website is still operational.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Note to everyone using APC. I had to get my hosting company to clear out my dedicated servers APC cache. All working fine again.
