A regular update of all plugins during the week threw up this message from W3TC:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /(home)/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

I chose to remove the plugin and all features following the usual advice of removing all relevant wp-content files & folders, then tried to reinstall. The install process failed with this message:-

Installation failed: Could Not Copy File

I cannot diagnose or analyse this myself at this stage. Any suggestions?

    Hello @worldmaker

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
That’s probably server permission, security, firewall, etc. issue.
Try contacting your hosting provider and discussing with them.
There is also a possible lack of disk space in the web hosting account. You should check on the available space in your account. WordPress needs enough space to download the plugin, unzip it, and then move the files across.
WHat you can try is to download the plugin from here and install the plugin manually
    1. In the Dashboard, Navigate to Plugins → Add New
    2. Select Upload Plugin
    3. Browse to the downloaded plugin file and select it (downloaded .zip)
    4. Click on Install Now
    5. Click on Activate to complete the installation
    I hope this helps!

Thank you for your prompt reply and advice.
You appear to be correct about my server was unexpectedly running out of space. I just cleared a lot of old files and the plugin has now been reinstalled successfully.
I’m going to need a bigger server. ??

@vmarko I followed your instructions. Instead of giving me the choice of clicking activate, it tells me destination folder already exists. What now?
