Vslider captions not showing

I have the “description” field filled in on images my vSlider, but they aren’t showing. You can kinda see them show up in the wrong place behind the image as it fades in.

I have changed themes, and that fixed the problem, but I can’t find out what in the current theme is breaking it. I disabled all CSS and that did not fix the problem.

The only thing I can sorta find is in the code, the caption has a p and span tag, neither opened or closed: <p>Courtesy L Kaplan.</span>

Could that be the cause, and can anyone offer a suggestion to fix?
