• I have been using the Vivre theme for my personal website and I logged on to find that the menu bar (upper left) was severely condensed when viewing the site and the website name (my name) was a line above the menu.

When I viewed the site last the menu and website name where within the same row and the menu tabs were separated as they should be. When I go Appearance>Edit
or the menu shows up how it was originally instead of this new weird version.

Was this an update that was done? How can I fix it so the website name and menu are on the same row and the menu is appropriately spaced as before?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

The last time the Vivre theme was updated was 28 October 2022 – it doesn’t sound like an update to the theme would have caused this if your site title and menu have appeared as normal after that date.

I tested creating a fresh site with demo content and no plugins, and installed the current version of Vivre but I can’t replicate your issue on the test site. Do you have any custom CSS (or other custom styling via plugin or similar) added to the site which might be overriding the theme’s own styling?

I haven’t checked my site since early October so I am not sure when exactly the issue appeared.
I don’t have any custom CSS or plugins installed for custom styling.

What is really weird is that it appears find in the Appearance > Editor, but when the actual site is viewed the menu gets messed up.

I reverted the templates to the original for the header and it didn’t seem to resolve the issue either. Is there a way I can reset the theme to it’s default?

    Hey there,

I can’t see that menu is present currently on the site.

Are you able to re-add this?

Also, to check – is the Gutenberg plugin installed?

    Hi Adam,

What exactly are you referring to about the menu or re-adding?
I don’t have the Gutenberg plugin installed and I don’t think I ever did.

I noticed that with the issue I am having sit appears completely normal in the editor (including the header and footer templates) but it all weird when the site is actually being viewed.

Thanks so much for your help!

I think it has to do with when the beta editor came into use? The weirdest part about this is no matter what I do on the beta editor tab to the header or footer the formatting of the menu bar or footer links will not change.

For example, I want the footer links to be horizontally listed and right justified, but no matter what I do on the editor they remain vertically listed and left justified.

    Hello there,

What exactly are you referring to about the menu or re-adding?

So a navigation block would be added to the site into the header.

If you add: /wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_template&postId=pub%2Fvivre%2F%2Fheader-footer-only to the end of URL of the site, do you go the header and footer template?

I can see the menu in there.. but it’s sitting outside of a row block.

Are you seeing something like this:

This is what I see, which is very similar. The menu and footer outside of the row block appear normal in the editor but are messed up when viewing the site

    See https://imgur.com/a/lnS2IuK

Interesting – when I do inspect element on https://siobhanmitchell.com/ – I can see there’s a row block in that header.

Is the same header seen in https://imgur.com/a/lnS2IuK (Header and footer template) the same header seen in the other templates?
