• Ok – I have WordPress 2.0.3 set up on an “out of the box” installation of Xampp 1.5.3a for Windows XP.

I have installed the Visual.Spellcheck plugin (https://matthew.delmarters.com/weblog/visual_spellcheck/) in the plugin directory of my wordpress installation, and activated it. The option links show up in the WordPress editor window. However, activating spell check results in PHP error.

Fatal error: Cannot access empty property in C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\wp-content\plugins\Visual.SpellCheck\pspell_comp.php on line 131

I have Aspell installed on my computer, but NOT within the htdocs directory. It is installed in the Program Files directory, subdirectory Aspell.

How do I get the plugin and Aspell to talk to one another?

I’m SURE it is as simple a matter as updating the appropritate line on some config file somewhere – but I don’t know which one.

    Any suggestions>?

  • Is the plugin compatible with v2? I know there’s one spelling plugin that doesn’t work with v2, and the author says he can’t be bothered to update it just yet ??

I don’t know – I can’t even get it to find my installation of Aspell – I don’t know if it dies after that or not.
