VisualEditor/Visual Composer Read More Tag on Page

  • Hi everyone,

    I have a little problem I hope you can help me with. I am trying to design a Page with the Visual Composer:

    My main problem is this: I want the text fields to have the same size and display only 200 letters (or so). I tried to solve this with the read-more Tag but it dosent work here. I dont know if this is a visual editor problem, a visual composer problem or due the fact that I am designing this on a static page.

    I am using this backend editor structure:

    Title
    Single Image
    Text Field with WYSIWYG Editor

    Do you have any experience with the visual composer and have any ideas (or alternatives) how I can accomplish this? I am very glad for every help I can get. Thank you very much!

  • Hi, actually MORE tag doesn’t work in wordpress in page/post view. it only used (work) when you see list of post/pages.

    For example you can create post -> instert text and set some more tag

    After that enter to first page(list of posts) and you will see only first part of page.

    actualy tested without visual composer work as specified and tested with visual composer and work same.

    Hey pavelthq,

    thx for the hint. Unfortunatly, this will not solve my issue. I made two screenshots that illustrate how i made the page:

    I used the read-more Tag on the second screen in the WYSIWYG Editor, but it did not work. So I need an alternative to design the page. The obvious one would be to shorten every synopsis to 200 letters, but this is not what I want.
    There has to be a way that allows me to hide the text und to give the users the option to ether scroll in the text-boxes or to open up a read-more area or something similar to that?

    I hope some web-design crack can help me out :/

    This is how wordpress work, unfortunately i can’t help there, but you can achieve something similar with accordion element.

    Or create PAGE
    insert into page post grid and they will display selected content. like

    Image – Title – Trimmed content.

    Something like: create 6 posts (set title, image and content with more tag).
    And instert into page post grid, and set 6 items per row(2 columns size).

    In next update we will update post grid and it will be more easy to create this.

    Read more tag on pages – not working in WordPress. Which is ridiculous funny/wrong. Why just use this for posts and the landing page?

    Using this codesinippet in my page-template makes Visual Composer not showing anything anymore. Not even the text before the read more tag. So this is one of the usual Visual Composer flaws and errors.

    VC = Worst product in the history of webdesign/webdevelopment.
