I’ve deactivated all plug-ins, cleared cache and read the 4.6 documentation. My visual view to edit posts or pages does not display (just a white box). I can see and change the HTML code in Text view.

Please help … how to fix? Happened after 4.6 update.

Try deactivating *all* plugins (just being sure it’s *all* plugins, sometimes folks don’t do all when they say they do, no offense). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Yes, i did do every single plug-in, but no offense taken ??

I’m not finding a Twenty Sixteen theme — jut a Twenty Fifteen. If i change the theme, will I be able to change it back to our original theme and everything will look the same way again? (Sorry – I’m relatively new to WP)

You can install and activate Twenty Sixteen from Appearance -> Themes -> Add New. I recommend keeping it around and unmodified, as it’s the current default theme, so it’s very handy for testing.

It’s safe to switch just to test for a minute, then switch back.

Changed to Twenty Sixteen. Activated. Logged out of WP. Logged back in. Still no visual view ??

Should I have deactivated all plug-ins using the Twenty Sixteen theme? I didn’t do that …

Yeah, let’s see if that makes a difference.

If it doesn’t, try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

ok. Deactivating plug-ins didn’t work. The next step sounds scary, but I’ll give it a shot & report back. Thank you for your help thus far.

James Huff — it WORKED! Thank you. Any idea what would have caused the problem?

Is it only a problem when your desired theme is active? If so, what is the name of the theme, and where did you get it?
