Visual Tab Unclickable in post/page maker

  • Hi everyone,

    I’m fairly new to making wordpress sites, but for the most part I’m getting the hang of it well.

    Just tonight though when editing a post, the “Visual” tab suddenly became unclickable and I am stuck on only using the text editor tab. Also quite a few buttons on that page don’t expand when I tell it to open, so something is definitely bugged…

    Lastly, not sure if anyone can help with this one, but currently on the front page, the blog isnt showing correctly. By default it should be expanded, but it doesnt expand until you click “all,” or “Blog” or one of the viewing options ect. Really messes with the layout of the site.

    Does your site start behaving normally if you switch to the default theme temporarily? This can help rule out whether the problem is in the theme or not.

    Hey Samuel,

    Nope.. Still isn’t functioning.

    Really difficult to create pages/posts right now. I even tried internet explorer, and it also gets stuck. I cant access any formatting for the words, (color, alignment ect)

    Not sure how to fix this…

    I had similar issues that I solved temporarily by adding
    define(‘SCRIPT_DEBUG’, true);
    in wp-config.php file, as suggested by XIIIzen in this thread.

    Though I’m afraid to give it a shot as I’m still very new with most of this. Don’t want to crash the site heh. Mind if I send you a temp login? PM

    A temp login wouldn’t help since this is something to do at the file system level.
    The file wp-config.php is located at the root directory of your wordpress installation.
    You can open it with any text editor and just add the following line at the top:
    define(‘SCRIPT_DEBUG’, true);

    If it doesn’t work or causes other issues, you just have to delete this line and you’re back to square 1. Hope this helps.
