Visual Tab there but not working!?. Visual Editor issues with 3.9.1

  • THANK YOU in advance for any help!! I had a client’s site ready to launch but when they launched they immediately upgraded to 3.9.1 – now all of the pages show both the ‘Visual’ tab and the ‘Text’ tab, but the visual tab simply cannot be clicked to preview/edit the non-code version. HELP ??

    I purchased the theme from Themeforest.net, but the creator has not beed responding since the 3.9 issues took hold of his theme. Here is the link

    The plugins I’m using are Askimet, CF Post Formats, Contact Form 7, Jetpack, Post Types Order, Revolution Slider and Ultimate Tiny MCE.

    Strangely enough some of the button in the Revolution Slider interface are disabled as well. The edit slide buttons are there but they’re unable to be clicked.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    I have actually, thanks to your comment on others threads. I’m afraid that after ready the comments on the theme I purchased, it may be “an issue with Visual Editor by WP Bakery being ’embedded into the theme and not show as an actual plugin”…

    Honestly I’m not a coder so I’m in the dark as to what that truly means. I understand that if this were a plugin I could turn on/off. But I’m not sure how to go forward.

    I tried to retroactively install the old files from a WP 3.8.3 install folder (minus the wp config file and WP content folder). That seems to have gotten me back into 3.8.3 but it did not automatically turn back on the Visual Composer Tab…

    Am I missing something else to ‘fully’ revert back? Same issues still, while my other sites that have used identical themes & plugins are smooth because they were never updated to 3.9 or 3.91 in the first place.

    Double check settings>>users. The user could have the visual editor turned off under their profile.

    kmessinger, thanks for the suggestion but it was turned on. I turned it off in the user settings and then back on to see if that would reset anything but… no luck.

    I am having the same problem. I disabled all plugins and checked user settings. This seems to have started with 3.91.

    I switched to the Twenty Fourteen theme and the visual editor started working again so obviously it is something in my custom theme. But it was working before, so there must be some new conflict.

    Unfortunately, I switched to 2014 and the visual editor still did not show up.

    Now what? I’m not sure where to go from here trying to fix. I did replace all files from a 3.8.3 WP install via FTP, still didn’t work. Clicked the ‘install 3.9.1’ button in the dashboard hoping it would fix the issue with a fresh update but still no visual editor.

    I’m really in a pinch. I’m happy to pay anyone for help. I’m lost when it comes to databases and coding (beyond the basics).

    Any HELP appreciated. ??
