• help please!
since updating to 3.2.1 I cannot write posts using the visual editor, i.e. I can’t select text and change its font size for example.
Because if I go to ‘Add New Post’, the Visual view is the same as the HTML view – i.e. all I see is code in both views. the only way I can preview my post is to click ‘preview’ and see it in a new window. this is far from ideal.
please help me, I’ve been through every setting I can think of, it must be something simple!

  • Hey tpdc;
I am having the same problem.
Early on when I first started to work in WordPress, I remember having the ability to enhance the text in a page or post visible mode. Now, it seems to be gone, very limiting. Whether I am in html mode or visible mode, I can’t size the text, or color it. I am wondering if I clicked a wrong button somewhere and turned that feature off. Any incite would be appreciated.
I sent the above to Mark, an WordPress Expert. He will help,

    Hope this helps

Check on your Profile Page (Users > Your Profile) if the “Disable the visual editor when writing” checkbox is checked.

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

Tim/wekn4019 – I removed your link to your site where you said ‘Go buy something’. I’m pretty sure you meant that in jest, but that sort of thing isn’t allowed here. No signatures in your posts, no links to non-related stuff, and especially no selling.

Do what keesiemeijer said. Turn off ALL the plugins. This sounds familiar to something we had in the early days of 3.2, so also make sure all your plugins are updated.

I changed the theme to a default one and deactivated all the plugins, but still the same. and made sure the visual editor was activated.
    still no luck.
its as if the visual editor is the the html editor.
    anymore thoughts?

    try:
    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder from a fresh download of WordPress. by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

Whoa…It turns out that I had forgotten about the “kitchen sink” tab. I was reminded of it by Mark, and presdo, the text varity tabs droped down. https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/
