I upgraded WP 3.9.1 to 4.0, than all plugins.
Had Ultimate TinyMCE as well, and got it to 5.3. As way too common with this plugin, after upgrade the editor was totally broken – no content nor tools in ‘visual’. This time non of the usual time-wasting tricks worked.
Found that perhaps it’s been discontinued in favour of WP Edit.
Ok, then tried this as well, but to no avail, no way to get it to work.
Basically half a day wasted for thing.
Sorry, too buggy and fragile, not ready for public.

BTW, all icons are icon fonts, like most of WP by now.
    Too bad.

    Hello,

I certainly apologize for your troubles. Not my intentions whatsoever.

I’d be happy to assist you in getting this plugin working properly… if you’d be willing to put in a few more moments.

    Hi Josh,

thank you for reply. Yes, I’d like to get it working, site’s editors were used to UTMCE.
Though I went through threads about apparently similar issues and did not see solutions, let alone a clear pattern to fix/avoid the bug(s).
Point is, that it’s the software that must take care of all the housekeeping stuff, in DB, caches, cookies etc etc to ensure installation / upgrades succeed smoothly – not the users / humans.
I don’t care if any such tricks like a magic combination of browser, cache cleanup, DB reset etc etc might WFM – I don’t want a chance to hear from editors “hey, where’s my page?!? where are the buttons?!?” once again.
Perhaps it’s an intrinsic bug of WP, but usually most plugins run smoothly across WP and own upgrades (if compatible) or at most need de-activation / re-activation – that is, a bulk admin-only 1-time action.
UTMCE has always been a nightmare, and I see WP Edit inherited these traits.
So I’d like to install it, but not till these issues are handled properly and duly by the plugin, without bothering the humans, except for dashboard-level 1-time admin-only action kinda like mentioned.

    Thanx

    Understood.
Well, a LOT has changed with the update to WP 4.0.
I’d suggest first reading the following article:
    https://learn.wpeditpro.com/wordpress-tinymce-editor/

    1) You’ll want to get rid of Ultimate Tinymce. It is no longer supported; and is most likely causing conflicts.
    2) Next, you’ll want to install WP Edit.
    3) Manually clear your browser cache… just to be safe.

Now, what state is your content editor in? Is it working properly; or is it not showing up; or are there any buttons missing?

yes, I fully flushed UTMCE then tried fresh install of WPE.
I reported after trying all such things

    thanks

Okay.. the next step is to deactivate ALL of your plugins; and, switch to the default 2014 theme.

Once again, manually clear your browser cache.

Now, with no plugins activated; and the default 2014 theme activated; does the editor load properly?

Thank you Josh, I’ll try the procedure as soon as I have the chance.

    No worries at all.

Yeah… the no content/no buttons in the editor insinuates a javascript error. We need to track down and identify the source of the error.

By going to a plain vanilla install of WP (no plugins active, default theme)… we can see if the editor load properly. If it does, then we begin reactivating things, going back to check if the editor still loads properly.

Eventually, you will find a plugin or theme that is causing the editor to “break”. This is where we will focus our efforts.

Let me know what you discover.

    Hey Josh

i try it on fresh wp 4.0.1 install without sucess.

    Hello @rmoron,

Please create a new topic for your support request. Although it may seem similar to the original poster’s topic; it is somewhat difficult to maintain two separate requests on the same thread.

    Thank you for understanding ??

tried comment 9 to no avail – giving up then, sorry. Perhaps I’ll try once again on occasion of another WP update.

    thanx anyway
