• Hi I recently upgraded my wp installation to the latest version, however how the visual editor does not work. Of course the ‘disable visual editor’ checkbox is not ticked, so in normal circumstances the editor should work fine. However I just don’t get any editing buttons when I click on the ‘Visual’ tab. Any ideas how to solve this?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Tried this but no change. It seems that Javascript is not working in the admin, because even the side menu drop downs dont work

Try adding define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false ); to the bottom of your wp-config.php file (just before the require_once line).

Still having the same problem even with that line added.

Plugins or themes don’t fix it. I discovered that many JS files are not being loaded in the backend. I reuploaded the wp-includes folder from a new wp download, but they are still not being found, although the url is good and I can verify through FTP that the file is indeed present.

It could be a server issue. Try asking your hosts for assistance.

I have the same problem, and it’s driving me nuts!

I’ve read a lot in the forums that there are tons of people having this issue. Why is WordPress not doing everything it can to resolve this problem.

It sure is not a server issue because I’ve already reported this matter to Hostgator and you know what? They’re seeing the visual editor working fine on their end.

But it isn’t on my end.

Like many others, I at my wits end on this.

Still having this super annoying problem!

@bodjie: It is considered impolite to interrupt another poster’s thread. Please post a new topic.

@drtanz: Try adding define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false ); to the bottom of your wp-config.php file (just before the require_once line).
