Visual Editor/Text White – Toolbar Gone

  • I’ve had a query from someone i’m unable to answer. Applies to Pages and Posts when trying to edit them.

    1. Visual Editor text is white on white background.
    2. Cannot switch between Visual & Text.
    3. Toolbar (with Bold, Italics etc) is missing.

    They are using WeaverX and a few well known plugins. I have the same theme/plugins and much more running on two other sites without error. They may have gained their problems when WordPress automatically updated.

    Deactivating plugins didn’t work.

    Deleting cache never worked. Even replaced the Cache plugin.

    Changing Theme didn’t work.

    Have you tried:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. If your host provider has a “Purge Varnish” option or if you can ask your provider to flush memcache on your server.
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
    – MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
    – Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

    Hi T-P, thanks for responding so quickly.

    It’s not my site or on my hosting. Just trying to do a favour. For what i had access to, please note that my original message said:

    I was hoping for others to have had the exact problem rather than try-many-things and-pray option ??

    Another site mentioned Tiny MCE being the possible problem. The options could go on ??

    Same problem!
    Tried everything.. and console is also referring to tiny MCE-files. Let me know if you find a solution!

    I can sometimes trigger the html editor to show my html, but I really don’t want to edit only thorugh html from here on…

    please do not jump into other topics. If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. That way you stand a good chance of getting the assistance you want.

    It’s the exact same problem and I’ve found more of these issues in different posts, and clearly there is a connection here. I’ll post again in my own thread, but doesnt seem to be working Mike to have his own post..
