    Hello,

I’m having difficulties with the visual editor/image upload.
    1. Visual editor doesn’t appear
    2. When clicking on the image upload, rather than getting a pop up window, the upload window appears, ‘beneath’ (bottom left) just enough of it showing so you know its there, but can’t select or press upload.

I’ve been through a number of threads all seem to be from a number of years back and have tried the following:
    -Re-install wp
    -Disabled all plugins
-Download and ftp’ed a fresh copy of wp-includes
-Clear cache, restart and reinstall wp
-Changed folder permissions and back again
    -switched themes
-downloaded and activated the tiny mce plugin and the fckededitor plugins. The latter giving a variety of editing buttons, like the visual editor but still same upload issues.

Anybody got any other suggestions, in the words of James Dean, ‘Its tearing me apart’

    Thanks

    Thanks both,

    Stiil the same issue unfortunately.

    esmi: wp-config.php now has 256M

tccollins: been through that read but just went over it again, new wp-includes, new wp-admin etc etc

It’s really odd as I have 14 other sites all running the same way, also I’ve noticed that on the posts screen where the two list/exert buttons are normally, on the affected site these appear as text but with 5 buttons covering them?

Thanks for your help, if you have any other suggestions that would be great, the site, if you have the time is here

    Thanks again

Do you have any other WP sites on the same server as this site?

    Interestingly enough, 14,

just been through them all and not one with similar issue.

    Thanks again

All on the same server? Or all just with the same host?

Same host and server yes. The server went down the other day and all sites went with it

The server went down the other day and all sites went with it

Now that’s interesting… I wonder if there’s still a server issue on just that site. Might be worth checking out the php.ini file. Also the error log if you have access to it.

Thanks for all your help with this,

I’ve not been able to locate php.ini but am currently hunting, what would I be looking for in the error log.

References to missing PHP core files (possibly because of a path problem)? Anything that might relate to a permissions issue (401, 403)?

    Hi and Thanks again,

Well the error log is fairly big, I intend to look in there a litte more often!

The latest error in the log is this:

    [21-Oct-2010 16:36:51] PHP Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/ogma/public_html/wp-includes/load.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/ogma/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 19

However, I think this could have come from the re=installing[uploading of today. A couple of weeks ago, when I figure the problem started, there is this:

    [17-Sep-2010 13:00:07] WordPress database error Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation ‘=’ for query SELECT comment_ID FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_post_ID = ‘190’ AND comment_approved != ‘trash’ AND ( comment_author = ‘Doggy’ OR comment_author_email = ‘[email protected]’ ) AND comment_content = ‘Hola,
?Puedo tomar obtener una pequeсa foto de su blog?

Which I’m guessing, guessing! is the route of the problem, still googling solutions but if you have any suggestions they would be most appreciated.

Thanks Again for taking the time to help.

Finally I have resolved the issue, how exactly I’m not sure. It could have been a stray .htaccess, changes I made to wp-config.php, something in wp-comments.php, genuinely not sure.

I do know its 3am and its ‘fixed’. Brilliant!

    Thanks Again

Glad to hear that you managed to resolve the problem. ??
