I’m a new WordPress user (2 days). I’m following a tutorial to create a WP website and following step by step.

I’m using Black Studio TinyMCE Widget with Page Builder. Everything was working fine. I uploaded an image and went to view page. When I went back to the Visual Editor to edit, the Widget Styles menu on the right wouldn’t load. I just get a moving circle which looks like it’s loading but it doesn’t appear no matter how long I leave it.

I’ve tried reinstalling the theme I’m using, deleted my content and started the tutorial from scratch and experienced exactly the same problem. The Widget Styles menu appeared at first, but when I went to edit it disappeared and showed as loading but never appeared.

I’ve installed exactly the same plugins as the person doing the tutorial and done everything as he has step by step so I don’t see why I should have a problem that he isn’t having.

I’ve deactivated all other plugins but this has no effect and the problem is still there.

All my plugins and WordPress are updated to the latest versions.

If anyone can help I’d be grateful. Please remember I’m new to this so keep the jargon to a minimum ??

    Hi @callyofficial

It’s a little technical, but please, can you try checking for JS errors when editing the Visual Editor widget (Black Studio).

Thanks for the reply. I get the following error messages…

Does this give a clue as to what’s causing the problem?

Also just an idea but I’m wondering is it possible to use an earlier version of a plugin? Maybe if this can’t be fixed this would help until there’s a better update?

There is anything there specific to Black Studio that I can see.

If you haven’t used the Visual Editor widget many times then you could switch to the SiteOrigin Editor widget. To get access to this widget you need our Widgets Bundle installed:

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I tried the SiteOrigin Editor widget instead of the Visual Editor widget and get exactly the same problem, which is the menu to the right won’t load, I just get the animated circular icon which looks like it’s loading but it doesn’t appear. So whatever is causing the problem is causing it for both plugins/widgets.

The full conflict test is as follows:

    1. Switch to a default WordPress theme: Twenty Fifteen.
    2. Deactivate all plugins at once except for SiteOrigin Page Builder and SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle.
    3. Test the problem, does it still happen?

I’ve just followed all steps and still have the same problem. Just to confirm after following the steps above…

    I add a new row
    Add widget
    Select SiteOrigin Editor
    Click edit

The Visual/Text part appears ok, but the Widget Styles menu is missing.

I have noticed something strange though. If I duplicate the SiteOrigin Editor widget several times then check each one, in most of them the Visual/Text part appears and the Widget Styles menu is missing, but every now and again the Widget Styles menu will be there, but then sometimes the Visual/Text part is missing.

So I have tried keeping on duplicating until I get the Visual/Text part and the Widget Styles menu, then deleting all the other SiteOrigin Editor widgets and then keep repeating until I get widgets that are fully functioning.

The only problem with this is if I want to go back to the widget to edit it, most of the time the Widget Styles menu will have disappeared so if I’ve used an image I won’t be able to edit it. So this fix doesn’t really work if anything needs to be edited.

Are there any more tests I can do to find the problem?
