• I have WordPress 4.5 installed on my website. I am using the Lotus Theme 3.7.0. When I open a page in the backend of wordpress, nothing appears in my Visual Editor. If I click on the text editor, then go back to the visual editor, I see the content. I can make edits, but when I click “update”, the new edits don’t take.

    Everything was working until I installed WordPress 4.5.

    Any recommendations on how to resolve this issue?

    Thank you

  • @pablo Molina: your downgrade instructions are wrong. You can’t reliably downgrade without a copy of the database from the previous version. Downgrading by uploading the previous version files does not downgrade the database.

    4.5.3 addresses media uploads and editor issues.

    Make sure you have an updated theme.

    https://my.studiopress.com/

    You also have something causing a javascript error.
    https://www.zlcdn.com/stylesheets/minibox/generic.css Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 503 (Service Unavailable)

    A javascript error may interfer with the editor as it is all js.

    I just updated to the most recent genesis theme this morning, so maybe it hadn’t taken effect when you tried my site, @kmessinger? Hope it’s all ok now. It didn’t have an effect on the visual editor, unfortunately.

    Any word on when 4.5.3 might be available @mark Ratledge?

    @the Wimpy Vegetarian

    More problems than before. In Chrome, press F12. At the top bar make sure console is underlined. The bring up your site.

    We know as much as you.

    You are all against downgrade, but without providing a valid alternative.

    It is obvious you have to back up your installation either for upgrade or downgrade.

    Only criticism here, but no real solutions.

    We as WordPress developers and heavy users expect from WP to admit officially the error condition in version 4.5, and to provide either a temporal fix or official downgrade instructions.

    Thanks

    @pablo Molina,

    I can speak from my experience, which is:

    – I had no issue with text editor in 4.5

    – I had no issue with text editor when I upgraded to 4.5.1

    – I had no issue with text editor when I upgraded to 4.5.2

    Clearly, this text editor issue you seem to be complaining about is specific to server, installation environment, etc.

    Therefore, if you cannot figure out and fix the issue, then you have the option of engaging a professional to assist you. If you want to follow that option and hire someone for this, then please try one of these sites: https://jobs.wordpress.net/
    or
    https://directory.codepoet.com/

    Alternately, you can wait and try 4.5.3 and see if that resolves the issue.
