• I have WordPress 4.5 installed on my website. I am using the Lotus Theme 3.7.0. When I open a page in the backend of wordpress, nothing appears in my Visual Editor. If I click on the text editor, then go back to the visual editor, I see the content. I can make edits, but when I click “update”, the new edits don’t take.

Everything was working until I installed WordPress 4.5.

Any recommendations on how to resolve this issue?

    Thank you

  • Try this…
I have spent hours and hours searching and trying out all the suggestions on the forum but no success. I thought I had some bright moments and tried to install other editors but without any success. Until this morning… I found this plugin called “Disable Visual Editor WYSIWYG”. After that I reactivated my TinyMCE and yoo-hoo… there TinyMCE was back again! It is a work around (and you won’t have the WP’s Visual Editor), but it worked as text can be edited again!!! I assume other editors might work as well. Success!

Finally fixed. The theme I’m using had a plugin for shortcodes. I deleted the plugin and forced it to reinstall this required plugin.

That seems to have worked. Can now edit with the WordPress visual editor again.

Visual editor not working for me, although I’ve tried the suggested solutions. I see the editor in text mode, quite weird with two small windows.

I can write text and it is saved. But it is impossible to change to visual mode.

Sad, because it was already difficult to keep the blog going, and now..?

Hi, I too had the issue a few days ago, not being able to work the visual editor. Then somehow it fixed itself, and just now after being able to edit for the past half an hour, the visual editor has stopped working again. I am using gridlocked 2 theme.

Hello, I’ve had the same problem almost day. I contacted by host provider and this morning and they seemed to have fixed the problem, but then after a few hours of writing, the problem just came back up, even though I didn’t change anything (I just updated to 4.5.2 from 4.5.1 to see if that would fix anything and it did not.)

I’ve had this problem before and it just seems to fix itself, but I’ve noticed the problem become more and more persistent lately.

The latest update of Yoast still wont be able to use the fusion core – thats game over. Im using a different SEO plugin now….yoast, later!

Looks to me as a WordPress bug. Deactivated all the plugins and enabled twenty sixteen but the problem still persisted.

    Edit:
Updated another site to 4.5.2 but tinyMce worked there…

    Hi

I have the same problem using 4.5.2

Finally I solved it desactivating the plug-in HeadSpace2 for SEO.

    Cheers

    Hello People:

There is a bug in 4.5 that causes Visual Editor Losing Text Mode and Add Media.

I have downgraded 10 sites to 4.4, and the problem is gone.

    Hopes WP finds the fix.

    Regards

I have the same problem with WordPress 4.5.2

basshsw fix not work for me
    activating/deactivating TinyMCE not work
I Deactivated all the plugins and enabled twenty sixteen but the problem still persisted.

I must downgrade site to WP 4.4.x

I have the same problem since I updated to 4.5.2. I can use text editor, but visual editor is completely blank. I’m stumbling through, but not at all a code girl. I’m going to downgrade to 4.4 too, but don’t know how. Can someone give me some direction on that?

    To The Wimpy Vegetarian:

    1. Download WP version 4.4.3.
    2. Upload all files and folders, except wp-admin folder, by FTP to your current installation.
    3. Refresh browser to update database.

    @pablo Molina

    Download WP version 4.4.3.

4.5.2 is a security release for all previous versions.

So, to suggest someone to downgrade to a previous version is not a good idea.

4.5.3 should be out any day. My suggestion would be to upgrade to that.

Thanks @pablo Molina and @tara, I appreciate it. I’ll hang in there for a few more days hoping for 4.5.3 and that it will resolve this. Thanks!

    @tara

To downgrade is the only known way to have the editor working back, until WP admits and solves this issue.
