Today after the update the visual editor stopped working. I do not have MailPoet installed so other plugins may also be causing this to malfunction, or there is a bug elsewhere.
Please can you give me any support ?
    Thanks

  • 3.9 updated the tineMCE (Visual) editor. Your plugins or themes may be using code that previously worked on the old editor but may not be compatible with the new editor, and thus you may experience problems.

To figure out the root cause of your issues, make sure to make a backup of your database (you should do this anyway before any changes of your site as a best practice) and then disable all custom themes and disable all your plugins.

Using a default WordPress theme, check to see if the issue is fixed. If not, do a manual upgrade of your WordPress installation.

Then if that’s all working, turn on your custom theme and test to see if everything works. If not, the problem is with the theme – contact the theme developer for support.

If that’s all working, start enabling your plugins one at a time and testing. If everything works, move on to the next plugin. If things break, note which was the last plugin you enabled and contact the plugin developer for support.

    Thanks Bemdesign.

I’m going to do it, I just want to let notice that I worked fine for some hours after updating, then watermarking some pictures and saving the post problem appeared as soon as the page refreshed.

I already disabled the Easy Watermark plugin, and others, one by one, the work is in progress but still no luck.

    Hope to solve soon.

Thank you again for the support.

    Got it.
    Is the ZipList plugin.
    Thanks

I have also lost my visual editor and I don’t want to change my theme after spending so long building the site. I wish I had never updated to WordPress 3.9 and why were we not warned that it cause such problems? This is just causing more work that should be totally unnecessary.

@joerow – Next time please start your own support thread. Properly coded (and updated) plugins should not have had issues. The core WordPress development team has been working on this update for some time and they’ve clearly indicated they would be updating the visual editor. Plugin developers are able to follow the news and plan accordingly. Its unfortunate that so many plugins are having issues with this update – but that’s not necessarily WordPress’ fault and has more to do with plugin developers not updating plugins in co-ordination with pending releases of WordPress updates.

For those of us that are NOT developers, it would have been nice to know that perhaps we should wait for a while before updating… I have wasted the past 4 hours and still can’t fix it !
