• Hi All, I’ve ran into a very unusual situation where the visual editor for pages & posts is locked from mouse interaction. The whole page of the browser window has a dark transparent gray overlay and I can’t click on any of the buttons or fields and am forced to use the back button. I can however turn off the visual editor in the user admin, and then use the text editor.

I have tested this with Firefox & Chrome, and same thing happens. I have also disabled all plugins and tried re-installing WordPress core, but these steps had no effect.

Website is working just fine (https://cssi-inc.com), but our content writers are stuck using the text editor, which is a problem. Has anyone seen this problem before? I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • What happens when you use the twenty fourteen theme?

Consider updating your theme from version 2.5 to the latest 2.8.

You’ve already tried disabling plugins, but sometimes an apparently inactive plugin can still have an effect. Consider deactivating plugins and temporarily renaming the plugins folder, then test.

Thanks kmessinger and lorro. I first changed the theme to 2014 and the problem disappeared, so obviously, the theme is corrupting the editor somehow. I’m using that theme (Vulcan) on other sites and not having the same problem. I’ll investigate to see if someone has added or changed the code and report back. Thanks for your help so far.

Hi, Jeffsne, any news? I’m having the exact same issue. Thanks.

Hi CrocusRick, no change yet. Are you seeing the same issue with the latest version of Vulcan? I’m using 2.5, but will try update to the latest version to see if we can get past the issue.

I’m also running version 2.5. I may also update and post back with anything new. –Rick

Interestingly, I happened to click on “Appearance” on the left-side menu to display the themes available and then clicked on “Customize” on the Vulcan theme and it allowed me to make some changes. Meh…
