Visual Editor in Pages showing code

  • In Posts and Pages, now when we click on Visual tab we are getting code/html. Don’t remember changing anything. I checked the user profile and the “Disable the visual editor when writing” is not checked. I also cleared cache and deactivated plugins and reactivated but nothing worked.

    The WISIWIG icons are not on the top of the Visual Editor either.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    Thanks Esmi and thanks for your service on this forum. Yes, I mentioned that above. Probably should have used bullets to make post easier to follow. I deactivated then reactivated plugins. I’ll try the default theme test but the site was working fine and then just stopped. The only thing I did was add some images to NextGEN Gallery which had already been in use.

    Did you deactivate all of the plugins at the same time?

    No, I think just the ones I added that day (woops, that’s right that was the other change I made): wp auto upgrade, wp auto backup and scissors. I can try deactivating all of them.

    I just added Dean’s FCKEditor For WordPress; it replaces the default editor. It works well. Is that just a bandaid? Should I continue to troubleshoot the problem?

    Deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
