• Just installed the very latest version of WordPress. Created a page and added a list, a paragraph and a link on its own line into the visual editor.

I did this in Chrome. I pressed enter to create the space between the list, paragraph and link.

In previous WordPress installs this has been fine and P elements would wrap the content.

In this new version DIV elements wrap. This makes the content semantically incorrect as text should be in paragraphs.

I have not modified WordPress in any way.

I am guessing this is the TinyMCE plugin which has been setup for adding divs on enter but I need a way of configuring that back to the more correct P wrapper.

    Any tips?

  • Are you running a plugin that modifies the TinyMCE editor in any way?

So it seems to happen when you add a bullet list.

Go to the editor for a page or post. Click into the visual editor. At the bottom the status says Path: p which is great.

Now type some text and press enter twice. Still OK.

Now click the bullet list icon and add 3 bullets A, B and C

Now press enter twice. The first enter WordPress thinks is a new LI but we are done, so press enter again. The editor correctly shuts off the list but now the mode (path) has changed to DIV.

Your right my editor does the same. I wonder if this is a bug?

Going to add it to Trac
